The Chief Rabbis of Israel and the religious party Knesset Members met this morning to discuss the ramifications of the Supreme Court decision recognizing non-Halakhic conversions. The Shas party\'s proposal for legislation to bypass the decision was one of the items on the agenda.

Following the Court\'s ruling two weeks ago ordering the Interior Ministry to register as Jews even non-Jews who underwent a Reform or Conservative conversion - which does not require acceptance of the traditional \"yoke of the Commandments\" - former Chief Rabbi Eliyahu said that the decision \"destroys the House of Israel, bringing non-Jews into the House of Israel.\" In the meantime, Interior Minister Eli Yeshai has refused to comply with the Supreme Court\'s decision.
