The Chief Rabbis of Israel and the religious party Knesset Members are meeting this morning to discuss the ramifications of the Supreme Court decision recognizing non-Halakhic conversions. The Shas party proposal for legislation to bypass the decision is one of the items on the agenda. Following the Court\'s ruling two weeks ago ordering the Interior Ministry to register as Jews even non-Jews who underwent a Reform or Conservative \"conversion\" - which does not require acceptance of the \"yoke of the Commandments\" - former Chief Rabbi Eliyahu said that the decision \"destroys the House of Israel, bringing non-Jews into the House of Israel.\" Children born to a non-Jewish mother are not Jewish according to Halakhah [Jewish law].
