The six children and three adults who were killed in the Beit Yisrael blast - including one entire family - were buried in two funerals today. Shlomo Nechmad, 40, his wife Gafnit, their two daughters Shiraz, 7, and Liran, 3, and their nephew Sha\'ul Nechmad, 15, as well as Lidor Ilan, 12, and his baby sister Oriyah, 1.5, will all be buried in Rishon LeTzion this afternoon. Tzofiyah Eliyahu, 23, and her 7-month-old son Yaakov Avraham, of Beit Yisrael, Jerusalem, will be buried in Moshav Noam, near Kiryat Malachi.
The force of the blast made final identification of the bodies difficult. Fourteen people are hospitalized from the attack, including six in serious condition.
Hundreds of Jerusalemites responded to the Magen David Adom\'s call last night to donate blood for the wounded. Today, thousands of people gathered at the site of the massacre in Beit Yisrael, calling for prayer, unity, and good deeds. Rabbi Yisrael Eichler, a hareidi journalist who ran for Knesset on the United Torah Judaism list, told Voice of Israel Radio today, \"We have tried many ways - the diplomatic option, the military option - and nothing has worked. Why don\'t we try the way that our Prophets and Sages have taught us, namely, a return to G-d? ... Everyone should return to Judaism, everyone - religious, secular, hareidi - should try to add one more act of kindness, one more prayer...\"
There were other Palestinian attacks this morning as well, including the detonation of a bomb against an Israeli car near Reihan in northern Shomron; a pipebomb in Afula; shooting at cars on the Karni-Netzarim highway in Gaza. There were exchanges of fire in Hevron during the night, initiated by Arab terrorists in the Abu Sneineh hills overlooking the Jewish neighborhoods. Two Arabs were reportedly wounded. A bomb was found and safely dismantled along the Israeli-Egyptian border, while a mortar and gunfire was directed at Israeli targets in Gush Katif this afternoon.
