Twenty-two Israelis were murdered over the weekend by Palestinian terrorists in five separate incidents, including 21 in the 12-hour period beginning at 7 PM last night.
* Sgt. Yaakov Avni, 20, of Kiryat Ata, was killed by a sniper\'s bullet during the IDF anti-terrorism offensive into Jenin on Friday. He will be buried today.
* Last night, a suicide murderer sidled up to a group of Jews exiting a Bar Mitzvah celebration, blew up his explosive pack, killing nine and wounding 40 others - several seriously.
* Also last night, police officer Moshe Dayan of Ma\'aleh Adumim was shot and killed by terrorists while driving alone on his motorcycle in the area.
* This morning, a lone terrorist - who was not caught - opened fire at the Haramiyah Checkpoint, between Ofrah and Shilo, and then at rescue forces that arrived on the scene. The Arab murdered three civilians from Ariel and seven soldiers.
* In an attack later this morning near the Kisufim Junction at the southeast entrance to the Gaza Strip, Arabs killed a soldier - Sgt. Steven Koenigsburg, 19, of Hod HaSharon - and wounded four others, including one listed in moderate condition. The enemy gunmen opened fire at an IDF checkpoint. One terrorist was killed in the return fire, but two escaped.
All the attacks were carried out by Fatah/Tanzim, under the direct control of Yasser Arafat. Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, who engineered the Oslo Agreements with Arafat, has said many times since the current warfare began that in allowing or choosing violence, Arafat has \"made a mistake.\" For instance, on Jan. 24 of this year, Peres told the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, \"We did not come to ask the parliament of the European Council to be one-sided… but to save [the Palestinians] from their own agony and their own mistakes and to bring an end to terror.\"
Thousands of Palestinians were seen celebrating in PA areas last night after hearing of the suicide attack that killed nine Israelis in Jerusalem. The celebrations of joy took place in Ramallah and in the hometown of the suicide killer, Dahaishe south of Bethlehem.
