Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has found an unexpected partner in his staunch opposition to the framework deal reached between P5+1 world powers and Iran on Thursday: Labor MK Eitan Cabel.
Issuing his first public reaction to the deal over Tehran's nuclear program on Friday, Netanyahu asserted that it would "pose a grave danger to the region and to the world and would threaten the very survival of the State of Israel."
Cabel, on Sunday, echoed the Prime Minister's fears, calling the deal "extremely worrisome."
"I refuse to join the flock of followers applauding the nuclear agreement with Iran," Cabel wrote on his Facebook, before turning his criticism to the United States.
"When a regime of maniacal religious priests receives approval to come within touching distance of a nuclear bomb, I am very concerned about those responsible for ensuring the agreement," Cabel charged.
"When they have a proven track record of violating their own red lines - I am even more concerned."
Cabel, considered one of Netanyahu's most prominent critics, acknowledged it was strange for him to agree with the Prime Minister and noted that "it is only on this issue I stand behind him."
But, "with all the criticism of how he managed the battle against the deal, it was the correct battle. In front of a nuclear Iran, there is not coalition and there is no opposition. We are all Israelis," Cabel insisted.
