Hours after Tzipi Livni backed out of their rotation deal, Labor leader Yitzhak Herzog came to vote in elections for the 20th Knesset with another woman - his wife, Michael Herzog.

Herzog, one of two potential candidates for prime minister - the other being incumbent Binyamin Netanyahu - was leading by three or four seats in the last polls published on Friday.

His chances of being able to form a coalition after elections, however, remain difficult.

"Those who want change should vote for us," he told press at the Tzahala School in Tel Aviv Tuesday morning after casting his ballot.

"We are celebrating democracy," he continued. "The nation will decide who will lead it. These elections are between change and hope versus despair and disappointment."

"Those who want a better future for Israel should vote for the Zionist Union in order to let me change [Israel's] direction, and anyone who wants Netanyahu's way of despair and disappointment is welcome to vote for him."
