Yachad-Ha'am Itanu leader Eli Yishai has promised not to steal votes away from the Ashkenazi haredi United Torah Judaism (UTJ) party - but party leaders remain unconvinced.

UTJ is primarily concerned over its Chabad-Lubavitch voters, many of whom have declared they will vote for Yishai's party, whom they claim will keep the "three promises" - the Torah of Israel, the people of Israel, and the Land of Israel.

Yachad is becoming an umbrella party for haredi voters dissatisfied with their options, sources say - and even many supporters of Rav Shmuel Auerbach, the haredi leader who encouraged his voters not to vote in order not to bring secular parties to power, are reportedly considering voting for Yishai.

One of Auerbach's supporters explained to Arutz Sheva Tuesday morning that a Shas vote, too, is unreliable, as it has signed a surplus vote agreement with UTJ. The person most likely to benefit from this is #7 UTJ candidate MK Yaakov Asher, the source explained, and encouraged Auerbach voters to vote Yachad instead due to the complex web of intracommunity politics between various haredi groups.

The reports, if true, could prove historic. A failure by Yachad to pass the threshold would mean a loss of over 100,000 votes from the religious-nationalist camp - a meaningful loss in a tight race between the left and right-wing blocs, and a wave of disaffected haredi voters could prove crucial in pushing the faction about the threshold and into the 20th Knesset.
