President Reuven Rivlin voted for the 20th Knesset elections in Jerusalem Tuesday morning, noting that "even though it's for the 18th time, I'm excited."
"I remember my first election, when I went along with my parents to the polls when I was 10 years old," he recounted. "My parents were free to vote for the first time in Israel, the Israeli democracy."
"Even today, voting expresses a celebration of democracy."
He called on all citizens of Israel to come and vote, "to decide on the future of the country as they see it - each according to his worldview so we can take care of our children, our youth and elderly, the citizens of Israel on the Gaza border and in the north."
"I call on all citizens of Israel: take your destiny in your hands," he urged. "Voting is a privilege and a duty."
Rivlin is tasked with choosing the leader of the party most likely to be able to form a government as the potential prime minister after elections, and has said repeatedly that the task will be given not to the leader of the biggest party, but to the leader most capable of forming a stable government.
