According to Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida, as reported by Israel Hayom, the Joint Arab List and Labor-Hatnua have been in touch regarding the aftermath of upcoming elections.

The report claims that "feverish" talks have been taking place between senior Joint Arab list officials and the intimates of Labor leader Yitzhak Herzog.

According to the report, the talks revolve around the subject of if the Joint Arab List will recommend to President Reuven Rivlin that Herzog be the one to form the next government.

The two parties also discussed the possibility of the Joint Arab List's support in forming a left-wing bloc to curb the chances of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu being able to form his own right-wing bloc.

"The Joint Arab List agreed to support Herzog due to sustained public criticism following its refusal to sign a surplus vote agreement with Meretz, despite Balad's fierce opposition to any contact with Zionist parties," a source close to the talks was quoted as saying.

It should be noted that the Balad members of the Joint Arab List were also responsible for torpedoing the proposed surplus vote agreement.

Despite this, the Joint Arab List has continued to poll well since its formation and the unification of Balad, the United Arab List, and Hadash, receiving anywhere from 11-13 mandates.

One of Friday's last polls saw the party firmly at 13 seats, its chances of becoming the third largest party in the 20th Knesset high.
