While Likud worries about its chances to beat Labor-Hatnua, centrist parties continue to pick at each other in a desperate effort to win more votes before elections next Tuesday.
In an interview with Radio South on Thursday, former Welfare and Social Services Minister, MK Meir Cohen (Yesh Atid) attacked the man who had held the post before him - none other than Moshe Kahlon.
Kahlon left the Likud party, for which he also served as Communications Minister, in 2013. He is now running for the 20th Knesset as the Chairman of Kulanu.
During the radio broadcast, Cohen confronted Kulanu candidate Tali Ploskov after she accused Yesh Atid head Yair Lapid of not listening to the economists in his office during his tenure as Finance Minister.
"The head of your party says 'don't listen to economists and members of the treasury,' and you're saying here we should listen?" Cohen charged.
"The economists and the members of the treasury department led us to this severe crisis. The time has come for decisive leadership here," the former minister continued.
"What Yair did is prove to all the treasury boys and all the economists, who talk with lofty ideas and brought us to this situation, that only leadership will change the economic situation."
Ploskov continued her attack, though, claiming: "In matters of security, the public relies on the IDF to keep it safe. But who is it relying on to keep his pocket safe? Who can the public count on to defend their bank accounts, fight tycoons and lower the cost of living?"
"How many times can we continue to lose this battle for our lives? And that's why we call for the social aspect to be valued in all ways," she stressed.
Cohen responded to Ploskov by attacking Kahlon. "I remind you that your [choice for finance] minister was Welfare Minister. I replaced him. Do you want me to remind you what he did? I'll remind you: he was Welfare Minister and did nothing!"
"He was only Welfare Minister for a very short period...Why don't you talk about what he did when he was Communications Minister," Plotskov answered, referring to the cellular revolution Kahlon implemented.
"I remind you, he was Welfare Minister and did nothing!" Cohen repeated in response.
