Yesh Atid party chairman and former Finance Minister Yair Lapid visited Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv Friday, where he participated in an extensive campaign rally for the party ahead of the March 17 elections.
Lapid arrived to encourage thousands of activists and supporters.
In his opening speech, he wished a "speedy recovery" to victims of the terror attack earlier Friday, which saw several border policewomen injured after an Arab driver rammed into them on the pavement before stabbing them.
"We thank the Border Police officers who stopped the attack," Lapid added.
"Terrorists who enter Israel must know that they are mere mortals and that they will not be able to walk away from this in peace," he emphasized. "I want to thank the security forces as well for continuing to do good work, and to keep in mind that in the coming weeks, there will be an attempt from all directions to steer the democratic process in Israel a certain way, and we will not let that happen."
"We will not let possible hazards affect Israeli public opinion, because we are a strong and active democracy."
Lapid also thanked party members and supporters for their work, referencing Yesh Atid's rise in the polls to become a strong contender with Jewish Home for the third-largest party in the government.
"The Yesh Atid party continues the momentum of recent weeks and we will go on and explain to people what we did and what we still intend to do."
