What would ISIS want in a negotiation with Israel? What would satisfy the Islamists who have pledged to convert the citizens of every country to Islam – or kill them? MK Ayelet Shaked wants Israelis who have an idea on that issue to contact Yesh Atid MK Yaakov Peri and let him know, because, she said, he apparently believes that such negotiations are the way to deal with Islamists.

She came to that conclusion, she wrote on her Facebook page Thursday, after hearing Peri speak earlier on Army Radio and intone that “the only way to deal with Hamas, Al Qaeda, and ISIS is via a diplomatic process, not a military one.”

What, exactly, he meant is not clear, and the interviewer did not ask. But Shaked thought that readers of her Facebook page might have some ideas. In what she admitted was a “cynical” post, Shaked asked on her page “what do you think the demands of ISIS from Israel would be? Will a building freeze in Jerusalem be sufficient for them to top beheading people? How about their halting the incineration of people – what would they want for that? Would a commitment on our part to withdraw from Maale Adumim cause them to halt their rape of Yazdi women in Iraq?”

With the right negotiation technique, in fact, Peri could start a trend, Shaked wrote. “It's not just us – maybe if the French had gotten 'approval' from ISIS for the Charlie Hebdo Mohammed caricatures lives could have been saved. Trading freedom of speech for lives – doesn't it make sense?”
