What can one-year students in Israel do about the \"situation\" here? Hold a gala concert to raise money for terrorism victims, that\'s what. Instead of feeling bad at being barred from downtown spots that for previous \'generations\' of one-year students had been popular places to meet friends and relax, students at Midreshet Moriah in Jerusalem decided that they could celebrate in other ways - and help the victims at the same time.

Alana Litman, with help from Midreshet Moriah faculty and students Pesi Porat, Chanie Brandstorfer, and others, organized an evening of music last week with performances by well-known musicians Chaim Dovid and Naftalie Abramson. The music was peppered with words of Torah, remarks by people who have been involved in helping young terrorism victims, Psalms by girls from various seminaries, and even an appearance by two American students who themselves were wounded in terrorist attacks this year. The proceeds, almost 10,000 shekels\' worth, were distributed to Kids for Kids and One Family, two organizations dedicated to helping the recent direct and indirect victims of terrorism.

\"In addition to the festive music,\" writes student Sassy Fish, \"the entire lobby of Midreshet Moriah was filled with the products of downtown stores that are suffering economically due to the wave of attacks… 250 girls from different seminaries of different outlooks and different styles of learning attended the event, and all gathered for one purpose - to show their love and support for Eretz Yisrael.\" She noted that many of the students are very committed to living in Israel, and that the number has grown over the year. \"Seeing our Beit Midrash packed with these girls,\" she wrote, \"singing and dancing to songs about Yerushalayim, was very moving…\"
