The Jewish Home and Likud responded with anger to the strongly hinted accusation by Major General (res.) Yoav Galant, that the IAF strike that killed Hezbollah's Golan Commander, Jihad Mughniyeh, was politically timed so concide with the election campaign.

Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett reacted by saying that “accusing the government of carrying out military activity that stems from elections-related considerations is the lowest depth to which the current election campaign has sunk.”

"Without going into whether or not the event was accurately reported, Galant's statement is unnecessary and disappointing, and can serve as ammunition for the state's enemies,” he added. “I call on Moshe Kahlon to instruct Galant to take back what he said before damage is done.”

Likud Deputy Minister Ofir Akunis also called the statement “a new low.” He also called out to Kachlon to tell Galant “to stop chattering.”
