French parliamentarian Meir Habib visited the site of the Islamist massacre at the offices of the Charlie Hebdo magazine, and called for more protection of Jewish institutions in France, as well as increased security steps against Islamist terrorists.
Twelve people were killed in the attack by Islamists, who shot up the offices of the satirical magazine in Paris while shouting Islamist and Arabic slogans. At least two or three gunmen are believed to have been involved, officials said. Police have opened a wide-ranging manhunt throughout Paris and its suburbs as they search for the terrorists.
The magazine, said Habib became a target after the attack on the Jewish community center in Toulouse in 2012. “Now we are experiencing France's worst terror attack ever. For months I have been warning against the alarming spread of Jihadism and Islamism, in Europe and especially in France. Unfortunately we see the results of the spread of Islamism.
“We keep closing our eyes,” said Habib. “When they shouted 'death to the Jews' in the center of Paris, the authorities blamed Israel, calling the protest 'anti-Zionist,' not anti-Semitic. The same holds true for other anti-Semitic incidents.
“Today, everyone sees that the writing was on the wall – for all of France. This is not just an 'incident,' but a battle in the ongoing war against the West. We must find Jihad and Islamism,” he added. “It's already here, in the heart of France.”
