US Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) told the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations last night that PLO leader Yasser Arafat must stop violence as a means to achieve his goals. Clinton, previously known as an outspoken supporter of the PLO agenda, condemned Arafat and the PLO for the ongoing attacks and violence aimed at innocent Israelis. \"He has failed as a leader to rein in the forces of violence and terrorism,\" the former First Lady said, adding that his use of force to advance the PLO agenda would not be successful.

Senator Clinton will be traveling to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem today, where she will visit with Israeli terror victims. She arrived in Israel on this visit as a guest of the Ministry of Tourism. During her husband Bill\'s tenure as President of the U.S., Mrs. Clinton came out in support of a Palestinian state even before an official American position had been taken. The White House decided at the time to distance itself from her comments
