Labor Chairman Yitzhak Herzog and Hatnua Chairwomen Tzipi Livni - running together for the 20th Knesset - harangued Thursday the likely Knesset list of rival Likud party, offering Labor as an alternative.
Primaries for the Likud's chairman and Knesset list were held Wednesday, with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu quickly revealed as the victor for party chairman. Other Likud hopefuls wait anxiously Thursday for the final votes to be tabulated.
As the count stands now, Yuli Edelstein, Gilad Erdan, and Yisrael are at the top of the list. Miri Regev and Silvan Shalom follow behind them, trailed by Moshe Ya'alon, Yariv Levin, and Ze'ev Elkin.
The Labor party's headquarters commented that the faces and names on the list are the same faces and names that have led recent Israeli policy and brought the country to this point - "a situation in which poverty is worsening, Israel is increasingly isolated from the global community, and young couples are unable to buy homes."
"Whoever thinks this is how the state should continue running will find suitable representatives on this list," the statement said.
"On the other hand, anyone who thinks Israel needs a profound change in priorities and a new spirit that will lead to new policies made for the benefit of all the citizens of Israel - who understands that Likud has turned its back on him/her - should join the large Zionist camp that brings a new message and real hope."
A party list headed by Herzog and Livni, Labor stated, will bring forth a new social message and remove Israel from the political isolation "which gravely endangers the security, economy, and welfare of its citizens."
Netanyahu, in his victory speech, praised Likud members and the party list shaping up to be what he called "the best list of all parties."
"We have chosen a wonderful, balanced, and experienced list for [Israel's current] ruling party which will continue to lead the State of Israel and help us defeat the Left led by Herzog and Livni."
