The army has promised to inform the inhabitants of homes designated for demolition 48 hours in advance. The petition against the demolitions was withdrawn as a result.

On Tuesday, the army destroyed four structures that had been used by a terrorist the night before as camouflage minutes before he murdered three Israelis. Before the army could complete its mission of clearing the entire area, however, Arab homeowners and Arab MK Muhammed Barakeh filed a petition with the Supreme Court demanding an end to the demolitions. The Court issued a restraining order, which it withdrew today in accordance with the above IDF promise. The army reserves the right, however, to destroy houses from which terrorists shoot at Israelis.

The houses were used again yesterday by a terrorist who shot and lightly wounded an Israeli motorist near Kisufim. That terrorist, Mahmud Isa, who was killed afterwards by Israeli forces, had been wanted by Israel for involvement in many terrorist attacks and attempts. He was the right-hand man of the commander of Hamas\' military wing Az a-Din al Kassam in the Gaza Strip, and was most recently engaged in planning suicide bombing attacks inside Israel and the launching of Kassam rockets at Israel. He was also involved in the attack on the \"Africa\" outpost last month in which four IDF soldiers were killed, as well as many mortar shellings and other attacks.
