The PA announced this morning that it had arrested the murderer of Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze\'evi - but Israel is not totally convinced. Israeli sources originally confirmed that the three terrorists who were detained by the PA this morning in their hide-away apartment in Shechem were in fact directly involved in the murder. They are now backtracking a bit, however, saying that the detainees were connected with the assassination, but do not include the actual murderers.
Israel has made Arafat\'s release from his house arrest contingent upon the arrest of all those involved in the assassination. Before the latest Israeli doubts were made public, Foreign Minister Shimon Peres expressed his hope that the security talks between the sides could now be resumed. President Moshe Katzav and others called upon the PA to allow Israel to put the terrorists on trial, but Tawfiq Tirawi, whose forces made the arrests, said that under no circumstances would this happen. Israel would probably settle for the three to be properly imprisoned and questioned, and not allowed to go free under the PA\'s popular \"revolving door\" system.
