The Israel Leadership Mission of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations began its five days of sessions in Jerusalem this morning with a press conference by Mortimer B. Zuckerman and Malcolm Hoenlein. The participants will hear in the coming days from Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (tonight) and President Moshe Katzav, as well as Ministers Shimon Peres and Danny Naveh, Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert, and other officials and academics. They will also hear lectures on the effects of terrorism, world Jewish demography, the Arab world, the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, Israel\'s economy, and other topics.
A group of 115 Jewish Canadians arrived in Israel this week to take part in a week-long solidarity mission sponsored by the United Jewish Appeal of Greater Toronto and Mizrachi Movement. The group has been meeting with Knesset Members and family members of terror victims, while also touring the country.
