Arutz-7 has learned that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has asked the US to give Israel a \"green light\" for strong action against the Palestinian Authority. The request specified that Israel does not wish to re-conquer all of the PA-controlled territories, but only to carry out a more limited offensive. A senior source in Sharon\'s office says that coalition constraints prevent him from taking stronger action against the PA, and that the Likud ministers are not helping in this area. \"They are very tough in interviews with the media, but at government meetings they barely open their mouths,\" he said.



Likud MK Michael Eitan, speaking with Arutz-7 today, defended Sharon by saying that the phenomenon of \'refusal to serve\' in Yesha is very dangerous, and \"it is being helped along by the media, which jump at the chance to interview anyone who hints that he might not wish to serve. This is very dangerous, and if [the Labor Party] would leave the government, the Labor members would also jump on the bandwagon, leading to a real split in the national consensus. You can just imagine how dangerous this type of thing could become…\"
