A special show of unity among 25 local synagogues was on display last week in a joint Hachnasat Sefer Torah ceremony in Kiryat HaYovel, Jerusalem. Members of all 25 synagogues chipped in for a Torah scroll that will belong to all of them jointly. Israel\'s two Chief Rabbis participated in the joyous occasion, as did members of the all the local youth groups, both religious and secular, including HaShomer HaTza\'ir, the Scouts, and Bnei Akiva. To enhance their understanding of the occasion, those who were unfamiliar with the customs were provided workshops about the Torah and the Torah Scroll beforehand.

Amidst much dancing and singing, the scroll was brought to the local Torah Center \"Beit Shlomo,\" headquarters for the local post high-school yeshiva, the religious nuclear core group, the National Service girls, and the neighborhood\'s central free-loan fund. Every year the Torah scroll will be housed in a different one of the 25 participating synagogues.
