A little-known Palestinian terrorist group assumed responsibility for the murder of Yaakov Krenchel, saying it was in response to the arrest of six Palestinian terrorists within Palestinian-controlled territory (Area A) the night before. The six terrorists, including five members of Yasser Arafat\'s Force 17 presidential guard, had been involved in recent terrorist and shooting attacks, and security sources said that their arrest would certainly prevent future attacks against Israelis. PA security chief Jibril Rajoub accused Israel of violating the Oslo Accords by entering PA territory, saying Israel had \"crossed a red line.\" Chief of Staff Sha\'ul Mofaz responded last night that \"the Palestinians are the ones who have crossed the red lines,\" and said, \"the IDF will act wherever it has to in order to get the terrorists.\"

The six where caught while driving in a car near the PA village of Jiljiliya, very few kilometers west of Shilo. Israeli undercover forces of the Duvdevan unit lay in wait at the side of the road, stopped the car, and took the occupants into Israel with no struggle. Arutz-7\'s Huberman said that Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer has now given the army a \"green light to enter Area A for short periods when necessary.\"
