Bruce Blakeman, a candidate for the Fourth Congressional District of New York, will be visiting Israel this week.
Ahead of the visit, Blakeman and Congressman Peter King, who will be part of the trip as well, told Arutz Sheva that they support Israel’s right to defend itself from Hamas’s rocket attacks.
“Hamas is a deadly enemy. Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East. It’s our strongest ally in the Middle East, if not the entire world, and we should not be putting any restrictions on Israel at all,” said King, who added that he was disappointed in President Barack Obama’s policy on the issue.
“In the United States, we can withstand an attack and survive. If Israel has one or two bad days and they can be destroyed as a country. They have to be allowed to do what they feel is necessary to destroy Hamas,” he added.
Blakeman noted that “the foreign policy of President Obama and Secretary Kerry has been very weak. Israel should not be bullied into making any kind of ceasefire or any kind of peace unless they’re absolutely 100% sure that they will be secure and safe.”
