IDF forces thwarted a stabbing attack at a checkpoint north of Jerusalem Wednesday afternoon.

Forces arrested an Arab man who drove towards the Hawara checkpoint in Samaria, just south of Shechem, after discovering a knife on his person.

Under interrogation, the suspect admitted he was planning to use the knife to attack soldiers at the checkpoint.

Hamas and Fatah have both issued calls for their followers to attack Israeli civilians and security forces in Judea and Samaria, as well as throughout Israel, in solidarity with Gazan terrorists.

While the Judea-Samaria region has been relatively quiet, riots broke out following Hamas's initial calls for an "uprising" earlier this month, although they soon died down.

On Tuesday, as Gazan terrorists violated a temporary ceasefire by firing more than 60 rockets into Israel, Muslim extremists in Jerusalem launched a string of firebomb attacks on Jewish motorists and homes in the capital.

Last week, a terrorist was moderately wounded by IDF fire near to Kalkiliya, in Samaria, after pelting an Israeli bus with rocks and a molotov cocktail.

The night before, three Israeli civilians were injured by Palestinian rock-throwers near Hevron in Judea.
