The army carried out two significant anti-terrorism operations this morning in PA-controlled towns, in one case under fire. In response to an intelligence warning of a mass attack being planned, troops went into Tzeida, an Arab village east of Netanya, to hunt down the terrorists. Five terrorists were arrested, one was killed, and another\'s house was blown up. In the course of the raid, the head of the Duvdevan Anti-Terror Commando Unit, Lt.-Col. Eyal Weiss, was killed when a wall collapsed on him. Weiss became commander of the elite unit in April, 2001. He was 34-years-old and leaves a wife and a child.



In a separate pre-dawn operation, the army entered the northern-Shomron village of Jaba, under civil control of the Palestinian Authority. The forces searched for, and caught two, Islamic Jihad terrorists.





A bomb was detonated against an army jeep in the area of el-Hader in the Gush Etzion area... Mortars were fired at an army position in northern Gaza\'s Nisanit early this morning...



Two apartments in Gilo, in southern Jerusalem, were damaged after midnight when shots were fired from Beit Jala. One resident told Arutz-7\'s Kobi Finkler that a bullet narrowly and miraculously missed him, passing above his head only a minute after he lied down to sleep. The IDF did not return fire.



Rock-throwings continue, as well. In Be\'er Sheva this morning, a car windshield was smashed near the Emek Sarah industrial zone.
