Yesterday while speaking to reporters, White House Spokesman Ari Fleischer grouped the Palestinian Authority together with other \"regimes of terrorism.\" He included the PA as part of the “axis of evil” that invites and practices terrorism.
“The President has always been very clear in all the statements he\'s made - whether it was about North Korea, Iran, Iraq, or anywhere - the Palestinian Authority - that it\'s the people that the United States is concerned with, that they are victims of regimes that invite terrorism and that practice terrorism,” said Fleischer. US President Bush, during his State of the Union Address two weeks ago, labeled Iran, Iraq, and North Korea as part of the “axis of evil” for their role in terrorist activity.
Fleischer made his remarks in response to a question about what steps the US was taking to address “cultural tensions that help breed terrorism.” Fleischer responded that President Bush believes in the importance of education that gives hope to young people and helps them not choose paths of terror. He went on to say that the United States is concerned with the lack of hope among those living under terrorist leadership, including those in Arafat’s PA. A spokesman in the American Embassy in Tel Aviv declined to comment on the matter.
