The Menachem Begin Heritage Center has announced the commencement of activities for the \"Begin Year,\" a year of events marking the 10th anniversary of the former prime minister\'s death. Following a family service at the Mount of Olives gravesite this coming Sunday, President Moshe Katzav will host a commemorative event at his official residence to launch the year of national remembrance. The Knesset will hold a memorial session in honor of Begin next Wednesday, and a week later, on February 24, an evening of recollection will be held at the Noga Theater in Jaffa.
Throughout the year and continuing until August 2003, when the 90th anniversary of Begin\'s birth will be celebrated, various public events and educational activities will be conducted. A stamp commemorating Begin’s life will be issued, and the Ministry of Education has published academic material about Begin for classroom use.
