Summer vacation will be cut short by ten days this year, ending on August 21 instead of Sept. 1. If school begins on Sep. 1, only six days before Rosh HaShanah, it is felt that there will not be enough time to properly begin the school year. The days will be given back to students and teachers in the form of a January intersession.
