Israel Air Force helicopter gunships, responding to the increased wave of terrorist activity in northern Shomron - specifically the murderous attack in Hamra and the attempt to transport eight rocket-launchers to Jenin - attacked the PA General Security offices in Shechem last night, and continued offensives this morning. Several units of IDF forces moved into two houses west of Shechem, and have been operating all day in the village of Tamoun - Area A northeast of Shechem. Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, filling in for Prime Minister Sharon while the latter is in the U.S., approved the moves as part of the effort against PA terrorism.

Psagot, near Ramallah, was targeted yet again by terrorist gunfire last night, as was an army position near N\'vei Dekalim; no one was hurt. Arabs shot at Israeli motorists in several instances last night, including near Sa Nur (northern Shomron), outside Beit El - three bullets hit the car - and along the Jerusalem-Ofrah highway; one man was lightly wounded in the last attack.
