In a private meeting between Jews from the United States and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in Jerusalem yesterday, Arutz-7\'s Josh Hasten asked about the contribution of world Jewry to the challenges that the State of Israel faces. Sharon stressed how important it is for Jews from the Diaspora to come to Israel during these trying times. \"We need world Jewry now more than ever,\" said the Prime Minister. What happens here in Israel will have an impact on Jewish lives all over the world. We expect world Jewry to come and visit, to study, to spend their summers here, and to eventually make Aliyah [immigrate] to Israel.\"
The Israeli government has been working closely in recent weeks with the Jewish Agency for Israel to put together special benefit packages for Jews living in Argentina, France, and South Africa in order to encourage them to move to Israel because of the unstable situation for Jews living in those countries.
