The Knesset deliberations on the budget for the year 2002 - already delayed by over a month, but finally beginning to near its final stages - were further delayed today in the Knesset Finance Committee. Committee Chairman Yaakov Litzman (United Torah Judaism) explains his refusal to raise it for consideration because the Finance Ministry omitted the allocations for yeshivot from the basic budget. Ministry officials say that this was done inadvertently, and that it will be fixed. Prime Minister Sharon and Finance Minister Shalom hope to have the budget passed by the end of the week.
