An explosive charge was detonated Monday morning near the Gaza security fence, in the southern part of Gaza.
No IDF soldiers were hurt, according to the IDF Spokesman's Unit.
"This is another attempt to harm our forces,” said the Spokesman. “Terror elements are making use of the area next to the fence for planting explosive devices and employing terror against the IDF and the citizens of Israel. The IDF views with gravity any attempt to harm the citizens of Israel and IDF soldiers.”
A very similar attack took place last Tuesday, when an explosive device went off close to the security fence separating Israel and Gaza, near Kisufim. No one was hurt in that incident either.
After a year of relative quiet following the IDF's Pillar of Defense operation, the Gaza front has been heating up lately and there is more talk of another possible IDF incursion, should things get worse.
Three rockets were fired at southern Israel from Gaza on Monday, causing no casualties. Rockets were also fired at Eilat.
