Rabbi Yehuda Leib Shteinman, considered the leader of the Lithuanian Hareidi yeshiva community, was released from hospital Thursday, after being treated for the flu in recent days. He was treated at Ma'ayanei Hayeshu'a Hospital in Bnei Brak, where he underwent numerous tests.

The 99 year old sage entered the hospital several days ago, after complaining of health problems overnight Monday. On Tuesday, he fainted during his regular learning session, and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

A spokesperson for the rabbi said he was released to home care Thursday, and was fully conscious while in the hospital.

Rabbi Shteinman was attacked six months ago by a man who broke into his home. The assailant was restrained by the rabbi's followers who were nearby. The attacker was eventually admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
