Palestinian terrorists placed a powerful explosive in the stairwell of a residential building in Tzur Hadassah, southwest of Jerusalem. Police say that the intention was to collapse the three-story building on top of its residents. A resident discovered the bomb, the residents and those of nearby buildings were evacuated, and the explosive was safely dismantled after three hours of work by IDF explosives experts.



Arabs shot again today at an IDF outpost in Psagot, north of Jerusalem. Early this morning, fire was also directed at an IDF checkpoint near Chomesh, in the Shomron. Two bombs were hurled at an army vehicle near Shechem. No one was hurt in these incidents.



Soldiers found five 82-mm ready-to-fire mortar launchers yesterday afternoon near the Jewish community of Morag in Gush Katif, along southern Israel\'s Mediterranean coast. The launchers were loaded with shells and were equipped with a timed igniting mechanism. IDF sappers detached the mechanism before the scheduled firing time arrived. Arabs fired three shells at Jewish locations in Gush Katif yesterday, lightly wounding one Israeli.
