A day of warfare in Gush Katif, near the PA-controlled cities of Gaza and Khan Yunis. Arab terrorists placed a large explosive near the Jewish community of Ganei Tal, hoping to detonate it alongside a passing Israeli-driven van. They were detected, however, by IDF soldiers, and the bomb exploded harmlessly. An exchange of fire began in the course of which the terrorists were killed. Palestinians later fired mortar shells at another Gush Katif community. One resident was lightly wounded, and was taken to Soroka Hospital in Be\'er Sheva.
