Nefesh B'Nefesh (NBN) hosted its "Think Israel" Conference on Sunday in New York City to provide information about aliyah (immigration to Israel) to Jewish students and professionals.

The conference, which included a presentation by Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Ron Prosor, was organized by NBN, the Ministry of Aliyah and Immigrant Absorption, The Jewish Agency for Israel and the Jewish National Fund.

Above all the conference focused on careers and life in Israel, with workshops on topics such as "jobs in Israel," "higher education," "building your community," and "Israel engagement."

Additionally a record 160 medical professionals came to the event, which included a preparatory seminar by the Israeli Ministry of Health to expedite Israeli medical licensing.

Nefesh B’Nefesh Co-Founder and Executive Director Yehoshua Fass said "we are inundated with requests from the Israeli government and medical institutions to help bring more doctors to alleviate the shortage of physician in Israel. Therefore, we are thrilled to be able to help expedite the medical licensing and Aliyah process for physicians, making the transition to life in Israel that much more smooth.”

The Employment Division of the Ministry of Aliyah and Immigrant Absorption runs special programs in Israel for training physicians, including Hebrew studies and vocational courses, to help immigrants prepare for government licensing exams and ensure their successful integration into Israel’s medical system.

The importance of attracting medical professionals was echoed by Natan Sharansky, Chairman of the Executive of the Jewish Agency. He noted professionals in the field are "acutely needed in Israel, and we are working with our partners in the government to ensure that their integration into the Israeli healthcare system is as smooth and seamless as possible. Bringing young professionals to Israel presents them with new opportunities for personal and professional growth and strengthens Israeli society. We look forward to welcoming them home to Israel."
