A woman, 60, was killed this morning (Monday) by a vehicle on the corner of Remez St. and Binyamin Blvd. in Netanya, after the offending vehicle attempted to drive over a traffic island where the woman stood with her grandson, age 1.

Volunteer medic organization Hatzalah immediately responded from their Sharon branch and began to attempt to save the woman's life. Unfortunately, several resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful, and she was declared dead at the scene.

The woman's infant grandson was trapped under the vehicle; Magen David Adom (MDA) teams managed to extract him after some minutes, before transferring him in fair condition to Netanya's Laniado Hospital. Several bystanders reportedly were treated for light injuries and anxiety.

A spokesperson for Hatzalah stated to Arutz Sheva that the "car apparently lost control" before hitting the woman, the baby, and other bystanders on the traffic island, on an intersection which was stuck in gridlock.

The Israeli news site Walla has identified the driver as a 77 year-old man.
