Bet El Institutions has chosen Lt.-Col. (ret.) Ralph Peters to be guest speaker for its annual gala dinner on December 8th, 2013 at the Marriott Marquis in Manhattan. Peters, renowned author and commentator, is an outspoken supporter of Israel via his many articles and media appearances.

The Annual Bet El Dinner, which attracts some 1,400 attendees, is the largest dinner of any Israeli organization on the east coast of the US.

“Our success stems from the fact that Bet El projects the spirit of the Torah and the Land of Israel through our media outlets, Arutz Sheva radio, tv and news and the Hebrew Besheva Newspaper, and through our prominent Torah institutions and outreach projects. No other institution comes close to this reach,” explains Baruch Gordon, Director of Development.

At the event, Bet El will be granting four awards to recognize Jewish activists for their outstanding leadership:

Eishet Chayil Award: Sylvia Freyer of Englewood, NJ

Shomer Yisrael Award: David and Barbara Bortniker of West Orange, NJ.

Shomer Bet El Award: Joshua and Rachel Goldsmith of Kew Garden Hills, NY

Young Leadership Award: Elchanan and Aliza Romanoff of Woodmere, NY

The event is organized by a team under the leadership of Mr. Eugen Gluck, who serves as Chairman of the Board of American Friends of Bet El. Attorney David M. Friedman serves as President.

Bet El’s flagship institution is the Israel Defense Forces Preparatory Academy, which caters to Sephardic and Ethiopian high school graduates, many of whom come from a socially and economically deprived background with little motivation for personal development or service to society. The academy deepens their ties with their Jewish roots and prepares them physically and emotionally for army service and adult life.

The network of institutions also includes the Bet El Yeshiva Center and Torah Website, the Bnei Tzvi Boys High School, the Raaya Girls High School on the name of Jeanie Gluck, Arutz Sheva/IsraelNationalNews.com, BeSheva Newspaper, and Israel Empowered for young leaders.
