At a major event for Haifa's Rambam Hospital in New York last week, David A. Sterling, chairman of Sterling and Sterling, a large insurance brokerage firm, said that the hospital's new underground emergency room was a most important and unique Israeli institution that was worthy of support.
Sterling is a major supporter of numerous causes in Israel. He has been involved in supporting Rambam Hospital for many years.
The emergency room is designed to house hundreds of patients in a bomb and gas-proof facility, supplying all services needed for sick and recovering patients.
Creation of the hospital was inspired by the 2006 Second Lebanon War, in which Hizbullah terrorists rained thousands of rockets on northern Israel. “I saw those rockets fall on Israel,” Sterling told Arutz Sheva in an interview. Israel needed to ensure that those rockets never fell again. “If someone aims a weapon at you, you need to respond – all the more so if someone aims weapons at your country."
