A yeshiva high school student from New York has been named one of 300 semifinalists in the Intel Science Talent Search, considered by some to be the \"Junior Nobel Prize.\" Mordechai Bronner, a student at Rambam Mesivta High School, earned the honor in America\'s oldest pre-college science competition for his work explaining how a chemical compound that was added to Firestone tires made them fall apart. Bronner, a Garcia Center Summer Scholar for his project \"Improving Adhesion at Polystyrene and Polymethyl Methacrylate Interfaces Containing Fillers,\" has reportedly received a patent stemming from his Firestone project. Each semifinalist will receive $1,000 in recognition of his or her achievements, and his or her school will receive the same sum in support of its science and math programs. The list will be trimmed to 40 finalists on Jan. 30.
