A resident of Raanana had an unpleasant surprise Saturday when he returned home to find that his front door had been tampered with.

When he entered the apartment his fears were confirmed. The mess he saw showed clearly that somebody had broken in.

As he walked through the house surveying the damage, he entered the bedroom - and discovered the thief still there, fast asleep on the double bed, with the equipment he had used to break in next to him.

The home owner called Kfar Saba police, and the thief woke up surrounded by police officers. He responded by requesting a cigarette.

He was arrested, and his remand was extended by the Rishon L’Tzion district court.
