Four people have been shot dead and another is injured in the aftermath of what seems to be a bank heist gone awry, in a Bank Hapoalim branch in Be'er Sheva's Neveh Ze'ev community..One of the robbers is also dead after reportedly shooting himself. The other robber was injured by a police SWAT team and taken to hospital.
Magen David Adom emergency services declared the scene at the bank branch "a multiple victim event."
According to testimony from eyewitnesses, there was a gun battle at the bank.
Shooters holed up inside the branch and held at least one hostage.
Counter-terror forces are on the scene. It was not clear at first if the event was a robbery or a terror attack, but after about 30 minutes, authorities became convinced that a terror motive was unlikely.
