A Bedouin worker at a coffee shop in Givat Shmuel has been arrested for allegedly trying to poison the coffee shop's manager. The worker is being questioned and may be charged with attempted murder, police said.

The incident came to light after the manager, a woman in her thirties, checked into a local hospital this week after complaining of severe stomach pains. Doctors treated her and discovered that she had some heavy chemicals in her digestive system, usually associated with grease remover. Medical staff alerted police on the possibility of foul play.

Police questioned the patient and discovered that she was the manager of an Aroma coffee shop in Givat Shmuel. After an investigation, police arrested a waiter at the restaurant, who is accused of adding the grease remover to a salad he served the manager several days ago.

The worker confessed to poisoning the manager, as his way of getting back at her over a financial dispute. The worker has been arrested pending an indictment.
