Binyamin region security chief Avigdor Shatz spoke to Arutz Sheva on Tuesday following the murder of Israeli man Evyatar Borovsky at a junction in Samaria (Shomron).

There is definitely a growing wave of terrorist violence in Judea, Binyamin and Samaria, Shatz said. However, he said, it has not yet reached the point of an “Intifada.”

Israel must act now, he warned, “Past experience has taught us that when we reach the point that something has to be defined, it is too late.”

Shatz emphasized the need to keep Palestinian Authority residents away from Israeli communities. There have been several recent attempts by PA men to sneak into Israeli towns. Several past successful infiltrations of Israeli communities have ended in murder.

“When they talk about ‘incidents’ it gives the sense that there’s a policy of containment that’s intended to quiet things down… We don’t want anyone killed, either, but we are not willing to let them approach the communities,” he said.

Israeli residents of Binyamin expect to IDF to define “red lines” regarding terrorism, and to draw those lines far from civilian homes, he said. Containment can happen in places that are not under threat, he added.
