A Petach Tikvah traffic court judge who has a reputation for foul-mouthed remarks is set to retire. Shlomo Nachshon Ettinger has agreed to leave his post, after a recent incident in which he made several lewd remarks to female court employees and defendants.
The decision came after a discussion between Ettinger and the court authorities. In return for his resignation, Ettinger will not be prosecuted for making racist and sexist comments. Ettinger did not apologize, but did say in a statement that he had not intended any harm. “I regret if my comments were misunderstood,” he said.
Ettinger was forced to resign after a complaint was filed against him at the High Court, and with Justice Minister Tzipi Livni. Livni expressed satisfaction at the resolution of the case, saying that Ettinger “had taken the proper steps.”
