Israeli sappers demolished the five-story Palestine Broadcasting Company building in Ramallah early yesterday morning, in partial retaliation for the Bat-Mitzvah terrorist attack. The disruption to PA broadcasts was not major, and the programming resumed shortly afterwards. However, the choice of target was significant in its symbolism, as well as in its proximity to Yasser Arafat’s encircled headquarters in the city.

Media analyst Michael Widlanski of Hebrew University explained to Arutz-7 today that this was the third time that Israel has bombed the PA radio building: \"Former Prime Minister Barak attacked it in October 2000, and this caused them to cease broadcasting on its AM frequencies…\"

IDF helicopters circled in the air over Ramallah this morning, and tanks and dirt barriers only several dozen meters away from Arafat\'s headquarters in the city continue to keep him locked into his compound. Arabs fired at the troops on several occasions, lightly wounding an IDF soldier while he was riding in an armed personnel carrier, and hundreds of Arabs threw rocks at IDF soldiers. Israeli forces tightly encircle most PA-controlled cities - Jenin, Shechem, Tul Karem, Kalkilye, and Ramallah. Military sources say that Israel will continue attacking Fatah and PA targets.

Arafat-advisor Nabil Abu Rudeina denied today\'s rumors that Arafat plans to resign, saying that they are only \"Israeli psychological warfare.\" Thousands of PA residents in Gaza gathered to show support for Arafat today.
