The General Security Service recommends that the Temple Mount be re-opened to Jewish worship. Preparations for such are already underway in Public Security Minister Uzi Landau\'s office. Arutz-7 broadcaster Adir Zik told his listeners today, \"Although he has come in for some criticism of his handling of Temple Mount matters, it appears that Landau is to be commended for his efforts on behalf of allowing Jews to pray there.\"
The holy site has been closed to Jews since the beginning of the Oslo War, almost a year and a half ago. The GSS recently became convinced to withdraw its objections to Jewish worship there by the likely possibility that Jews would intensify their efforts to enter without permission.
Jews are forbidden by Jewish Law from entering certain areas of the Temple Mount, and are permitted to enter other areas only after immersing in a ritual bath and taking other precautions. While some rabbis permit entry under the above conditions, the Chief Rabbinate officially bans such entry for fear that some may overstep the permitted areas and/or not take the proper precautions.
