Aviva Hazan, wife of former Likud MK Yehiel Hazan, was wounded by rock-throwing terrorists moments before Thursday evening’s collision that was also caused by rock-throwing terrorists and resulted in a baby being critically wounded.
Hazan, who lives in Ariel, was on a bus that was making its way towards Tel Aviv and was hit by rocks that shattered its windows. Hazan was hit by broken glass which entered her eye, and was taken to hospital.
Her husband, former MK Yehiel Hazan, told Channel 2 News on Thursday evening, "I call on the government to act to eradicate the phenomenon of rock-throwing that has a price of blood. Ariel residents have become cannon fodder for the quiet that the prime minister wants ahead of Obama’s visit.”
His wife, said the former MK, “told me the incident was very traumatic. She was sitting in the front of the bus and heard a noise that sounded like an explosion. Now that they heard about what happened, they realized it was the sound of rocks being thrown.”
“The driver was also hit in the eyes by broken glass, but managed to take control of the bus,” added Hazan. “He told the passengers, 'I did it instinctively.’"
The incident took place seconds before a car was hit by rocks in the same intersection, causing it to crash into a truck.
The mother who was driving the car, along with her three daughters, were wounded, one of them critically. They were all taken to Beilinson Hospital.
Bayit Yehudi chairman MK Naftali Bennett reacted Thursday evening to the rock terror attack, saying, "Some people take rock throwing lightly, and prevent action against them. Rock throwers are trying to murder and they need to be treated accordingly.”
