Another mission of North American friends and supporters of Yesha is scheduled to arrive tomorrow for a one-week visit that will take them exclusively to Jewish communities in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza. The diverse group, which will meet with government ministers and numerous Yesha mayors, will take part in the dedication ceremony of a bulletproof van in Emanuel this coming Tuesday. Ten residents of this Shomron community of 4,000 people were murdered in a terrorist attack on an arriving busload of passengers last month.
The North American mission is sponsored by the “One Israel Fund” which, in the past year, has raised funds for more than 30 bulletproof vehicles designated for communities throughout Yesha.
And another one-week mission: 180 students of Yeshiva University in New York arrived in Israel this week on a Tourism Ministry-sponsored program, at the end of which they will become \"Tourism Ministry Ambassadors\" in the United States. They will visit hundreds of Jewish communities throughout the U.S. and explain why visiting Israel is the smart and right choice at this time. Their week-long visit includes a meeting at the Western Wall with Tourism Minister Rabbi Benny Elon, trips to the Galilee, Golan, Yesha, and elsewhere, and visits to hospitals, army bases and community centers. \"With the help of these students,\" Minister Elon said, \"we can send the message to many Jewish communities and encourage many more Jews to come and visit. 80% of American Jews have not yet visited Israel, and they are an important target audience for our efforts.\"
